“For me to be a saint means to be myself. Therefore the problem of sanctity and salvation is in fact the problem of finding out who I am and of discovering my true self.” Thomas Merton

Thomas Merton (1915—1968) is one of the most influential spiritual writers of modern times. He was a Trappist monk and a pioneer in the interfaith movement. Today his writings serve as spiritual guides for many Christians as well as for seekers from Buddhist and Hindu traditions. He was both a mystic and a contemplative. Could it be that the search for Thomas Merton today is really a search for our true self?
